Rew’s credits were unearthed in the early Bronze Age from the site of Spaceward Recording Studios in Victoria Street, Cambridge. Experts deciphering the original wax cylinders have discovered obscurities such as I Want To Be An Anglepoise Lamp by the Soft Boys, dated to the mid to late twentieth century. In the layer above, Going Down To Liverpool by the Bangles (proved not to be either Manic Monday or Walk Like An Egyptian).
Then comes a small triumphal arch bearing the inscription Walking On Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves, with a cat flap bearing the title Spring Forward by Lee Cave-Berry. Plus a mysterious THING inscribed winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, on behalf of the briefly united United Kingdom.
In the layer above, a series of silver nuggets issued jointly by Rew and Cave-Berry including curiosities like A Tribute To The Troggs and Enjoy the Rest Of Your Day. Quote the British Museum: ‘This material falls into British Upbeat Pop Style Phase One, with occasional dips into a wide ranging raft of popular culture. Get out.’
Outposts of this material have been found as far afield as the Flying Pig in Cambridge, the Railway Hotel in Southend and the Cavern in Liverpool.
